Like many Albertans, Nagwan’s 15-year career began in oil and gas, as well as oil sands at TotalEnergies. She now works as the Director of the Business Renewables Centre Canada, advancing large-scale renewables in Alberta.
Nagwan believes in strengthening our economy by attracting investment and talent to Alberta, creating well-paying jobs, and a thriving energy sector.
Nagwan strongly supports the commitment of Rachel Notley and the Alberta NDP to maintain the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) for Alberta seniors and stop the reckless attempt by Danielle Smith to leave the CPP and jeopardize retirement security.
Nagwan holds two degrees from the University of Calgary, including a Master of Science in Sustainable Energy Development. She speaks three languages (English, French, Arabic).
Avenue Magazine named her to Calgary’s Top 40 under 40 list in 2022, and in 2023, the Globe and Mail named her one of the 50 Changemakers and emerging leaders reinventing how Canada does business.
As a wife and mother to two young boys, Nagwan believes your family deserves public services that you can count on: you shouldn't have to wait for hours in an emergency room to see a doctor or nurse.

On Thursday December 6th of 2023, we will be hosting our annual general meeting for Calgary-North. We will be electing a new executive and forming a team to work towards winning the next election!
Whether you’ve been a member for decades or you are brand new to our movement, we need your help to fight Danielle Smith’s agenda to take Alberta backwards. Together, we can build a better future for all Albertans with strong public health care, an economy with good-paying jobs, and a government that cares about what matters to families. Our team is working to get ready for the next election - with your help in Calgary-North, we can do this!
